Making dreams come true for the bravest children who are living with life-limiting illnesses
Our Sporting Wishes help to make dreams come true for some of the bravest children who are living with life-limiting illnesses.
At SCF we are incredibly proud to offer these amazing children a break from their challenging treatments and extended hospital stays. Through our Sporting Wishes , we create cherished, lifelong memories and some much needed respite for the whole family.
According to a study by the University of York unfortunately the number of children living with life-
limiting in the UK is set to rise each year. The study’s most conservative estimates suggest the number will rise to approximately 95,000 by 2030. There is great need for our work and while parents continue to express how each Sporting Wish has made a world of difference during some of the toughest times, it will be our privilege to provide them.
From our very first Sporting Wish, back in 2011, for Leah and John (both aged 9yrs) who were guests of the Football Association at Wembley for an England v Sweden friendly, right up to present day we have been privileged to grant a wide variety of Sporting Wishes to many children and young people living with life limiting illnesses and conditions.
These include a Rugby weekend meeting the Northampton Saints at the Cinch Stadium at Franklins Garden, ice skating with ex-Olympic Ice Skater Zoia Birmigham in London, VIP trip to Arsenal FC, watching them play Newcastle and meeting Arsenal and England legend Nigel Winterburn, an all-expenses paid trip to watch the England Women’s football team beat Luxembourg 10-0 at the Stoke City Stadium, a complete Raceday experience in Newmarket, starting with a visit to Amy Murphy Training Stables, lunch and a tour of the National Horse Racing Museum and ending with an evening at the races courtesy of The Jockey Club and being a special guest at the England rugby teams training camp. This year with the help of teams and individuals from the world of sport we hope to be able to grant even more Sporting Wishes, creating lasting memories for the children and families that need it most.
"Thank you for your interest in our sporting wishes program. At the moment, we are not accepting new requests. However, we will keep you updated and let you know once we are open for submissions. Thank you for your understanding."
