Welcome

We hope that you are all keeping safe and well during this lockdown and we hope that the easing of restrictions allows a new normal very soon.

Thank you for your continued support, we very much appreciate it and there has never been a time that the children and young people that we work with have needed our support more. COVID has had a detrimental effect on those that were already vulnerable in our communities.

Sports Connections Foundation is based in Peterborough and was formed 10 years ago by Junior McDougald, ex professional footballer. Our aim is to use the power of sport to inspire, empower, educate and transform the lives of children and young people.

We are proud to have engaged with over 550,000 children and young people through four established programmes.

Sporting Wishes - Making dreams come true for children facing life-limiting illnesses.

Inspire Through Inclusion - Developing positive futures for disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people.

Inspire Through Sport International - Guiding children away from a life of poverty.

ProKick Schools Challenge - Raising aspirations, building resilience and educating children about Global Citizenship.

Due to COVID19 restrictions, we have been delivering limited support via our programmes to children and young people, however with the welcomed news of the uplifting of restrictions over the forthcoming months we are very keen to start our programmes as soon as we are able to.

We have also been adapting our Sporting Wishes programme to allow us to provide virtual wishes and we are hoping that we will be delivering some in the very near future.

Welcoming our New Ambassador

We have appointed a new ambassador - Invictus Games Champion Kimberley Sterling. Kimberley, who won four gold medals at the event in 2014, is an army medic who went through extensive rehabilitation - including learning to walk again - after being injured on duty. As an ambassador, Kimberley will be speaking to children and young people about how sport can inspire and break down barriers.

Virtual School Mentoring Sessions at School

Gwion Edwards, winger for Ipswich Town, joined a Year 5 class this week, answering lots of questions and talking to the children about working hard and showing resilience during these challenging times. As well as exploring other school values including respect, kindness and aspirations.
